Bonnie's Apple Topping

Ingredients
4 apples (typically I use half gala and granny smith)                                   1 tablespoon butter
1/4 cup brown sugar                                                                                     2 tablespoons cinnamon
optional: 1/4 cup pecans

Directions
Heat butter in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Once melted stir in the remaining ingredients. Cook for about 10-15 minutes, until apples are soft

Great as a treat by itself, in oatmeal, on French toast or as an apple pie filling

**I often substitute chia seeds, walnuts or flax seeds for the pecans- just make sure its something crunchy and full of protein
**any oil can be used in place of butter if needed for your diet
